 TENANT AND LANDLORD ENGAGEMENT

Opening Doors to Housing

Keyheart Training believes that housing is a basic human right and should be affordable and accessible to all. It is with this belief and background in social services and advocacy, sales and marketing, residential real estate, compliance, and regulations that the Keyheart team began sharing their proven methods and skills to assist other social advocates in learning to build an inventory or housing options and navigate occupancy with their clients.

In this workshop we will cover the day in two segments:

SALES | BUILDING A HOUSING PLATFORM

Cathy Blair (Landlord Recruiter) will teach participants how to approach the housing market from a sales perspective. Participants will leave this training feeling confident with cold-calling, informational interviewing techniques, and how to overcome barriers with background and credit checks. We will review a housing stability application and discuss steps needed for a successful lease signing.

STABILITY | NAVIGATING OCCUPANCY

Teri Marquantte (Property Manager) will review the details of a lease, housing regulations, changes in laws, posted notices, mutual lease recessions, hoarding issues, maintenance logs and when property managers expect need to hear from housing advocates. Class participants will walk away with a Housing Stability Checklist and plan to support the landlord and tenant for the duration of the lease. This comprehensive training includes interactive, practical exercises to keep participants engaged.

Testimonials from our workshops

This training was one of the most beneficial trainings I have ever attended. It is such a unique experience from a Case Manager and a Landlord’s different perspectives. I know that every case manager can utilize all of these tools and ideas that are presented.

Safe Outdoor Space, Salvation Army

Prior to working with Cathy and Teri, SAFER had very little success in accomplishing next step housing after sheltering its very vulnerable high needs and landlord averse population. Cathy and Teri taught our SAFER team through their landlord and supportive housing tool kit (Keyheart Training), critical perspectives to switch our lenses from a social justice perspective when dealing with housing and landlords to be able to walk in the shoes of landlords, addressing landlord issues.

SAFER Opportunities

My experience was that the knowledge given was very helpful and I found the information from the presentation was very thought out. I learned a lot and was given some information that I had not been aware of before. Thanks for the opportunity to gain this experience. I was very impressed with you ladies, and I hope to get an opportunity to learn from you in the future.
